205 Bar is a lower east side live music venue. It straddles the dark world between the lower east side and Chinatown. Part of the allure of the 'dark world' is, oddly enough, that it is dark. How could hipsters and wannabees gravitate to a place where the street lights were turned on and the glare of a commercial street screams, "We're all here!" This is the Chrystie Street allure . . . and the charm fades once you hit 30.

205 Chrystie Street
Like many bars, restaurants and entertainment spaces in New York City, 205 Bar is owned by folks who also own other places. In the case of 205 Chrystie, the owners' pedigree also includes ownership of the Kenmare Street Mexican Tequila Bar known as La Esquina.

A Speakeasy in Manhattan

December 2014: Chloe 81 has been called, "A Speakeasy for Our Time". Can't get enough of Boarwalk Empire, get on down to the lower east side of Manhattan and head down to the subterraneum restaurant, cafe, lounge known as Chloe 81.
Pale yellow subway tile, low lighting, secret rooms and clubby banquettes all smell "in crowd".
Contemporary drink choices will let you choose a drink with elderflower, champagne and ginger.
Bring your late night date here to impress with your knowledge of underground New York City!
