September 2012 - Longboard Shop on Lower East Side is long on growing

Have you seen it? Longboarding? The trend of longboarding — which is skateboarding on a longer, wider board that's more reminiscent of surfing — is on the rise. Recently the Lower East Side skate expanded to meet the demand of its increasing clientele.

The Longboard Loft is located on Allen Street on the lower east side. The Loft is an offshoot of Brooklyn-based Bustin Boards. With this recent increase in square footage, the Longboard Loft nearly doubled its retail area.

Longboarding, skateboarding and roller blading are social and hobby activities of the young and the old, the professional suit as well as the crafts artist. Actors and messengers in Manhattan have long known the board to be faster than the subway on busy days!
